Loyalty Points

Loyalty points give guests a reason to book with you again instead of starting over on an OTA. They earn points on every direct Haven booking at any of your properties, then spend them as a pre-tax discount on a future stay — funded by you, like a discount code, not by Haven.

The program is opt-in and account-wide. Turn it on once; points earned at one listing are spendable at any of your other listings.

Open it from Host Dashboard → Grow your brand → Loyalty Points, or go directly to /host?tab=loyalty-points.

How it works for guests

Moment	What the guest sees
After they book	The reservation page shows how many points this stay will earn, available after checkout
On /trips	A Your rewards section lists their balance with each host, a dollar equivalent, any pending points, and a Book again link
On your property page	A signed-in guest with a balance sees a teaser ("You have 940 pts here")
At checkout (/book/...)	Available points apply automatically as a Loyalty reward line. The guest can remove them and re-apply if they want
After checkout (stay ends)	Pending points vest and become spendable

Points are per host, not Haven-wide. A guest who stays with you cannot spend those points at someone else's property.

Turn the program on

1. Open Grow your brand → Loyalty Points (/host?tab=loyalty-points).
2. Flip the switch to On.
3. Review the three rates (defaults below) and save.

Until you turn it on, guests do not earn or redeem points with you. If you later turn it off, existing balances stay visible on /trips but cannot be spent until you turn it back on.

Program rates

You set three numbers. Changes apply to new bookings only — a stay that already priced keeps the rates it was charged at.

Max redemption percent	50%	1–100%	A redemption may cover at most this share of the pre-tax subtotal, so the charge stays meaningful

The tab shows a live example (a $400 stay) so you can see the earn and redeem math before you save.

At the defaults, a $400 stay earns 2,000 points, worth $20 off a future booking, and a guest cannot redeem more than half the subtotal of that next stay.

Who earns, and when

• Eligible bookings — confirmed Haven direct bookings by the primary booker. Partner / PMS / OTA-synced stays do not earn points.
• When they grant — at checkout payment, as pending. They vest when the stay's checkout date passes.
• Cancellations — pending earn and unused redemptions reverse automatically. A guest who cancelled does not keep points from that stay, and redeemed points on a cancelled booking are returned.
• Co-guests — invited travel companions do not earn their own balance.

Redemptions are a pre-tax discount you fund, the same economic rail as a discount code — not a Haven-funded credit. They show up in the tab's Discount applied stat.

How redemption works at checkout

When a signed-in guest with an available balance books with you:

1. Haven quotes their full spendable balance, capped at your max-redemption percent of the post-discount subtotal.
2. That amount is applied automatically on /book/... as a Loyalty reward line (for example, "Loyalty reward · 940 pts").
3. The guest can remove it (?points=0) and re-apply from the same page.
4. On a successful Stripe payment, the ledger records the redeem. Abandoned checkouts never spend points.

In v1, points can apply alongside a discount code. Promotions still stack as price, not as a second discount code.

Stats and activity

The Loyalty Points tab shows:

• Points issued — earned on paid bookings
• Pending — granted, not yet vested
• Redeemed — spent by guests
• Discount applied — dollar value of redemptions (pre-tax, funded by you)
• Guests with points — how many guests hold a spendable balance
• A table of the 20 most recent ledger entries

Use this to confirm the program is running and to spot large redemptions.

Guest-facing copy

Guests see the program as Your rewards on /trips, with a How it works sheet that lists earn/redeem rules and a per-host activity ledger. You do not need to write that copy — Haven localizes it for the guest.
