If you run your business out of Guesty, you can keep collecting money there and still take direct bookings on your Haven site. In this mode Guesty prices the stay from your Guesty rate plans, fees, taxes and promotions, the guest pays on your Haven site through Guesty's secure card form, and the booking lands in Guesty already paid, with the guest's card on file for upsells and incidentals.
This is optional. By default Haven prices and collects every direct booking through Stripe, and nothing about that changes unless you switch it on.
You need:
- A paid Haven plan.
- A connected Guesty account in Haven (Host Dashboard → Integrations), with at least one listing imported.
- A Booking Engine API key in Guesty. In Guesty, open Growth → Distribution → Booking Engine API and create a new API key for Haven. Choose a booking option that allows instant booking (Instant book, or Both): Haven charges the guest's card and creates the reservation as confirmed, which Guesty only allows when the instance permits instant bookings. Include the listings you sell on Haven.
- A payment processor assigned to those listings in Guesty (GuestyPay, or a Stripe account connected to Guesty). Guesty charges the guest on that processor; Haven never holds the money.
- Stripe connected to Haven, only if you sell add-ons at booking. Guesty collects and pays out the stay, so you don't need Stripe for that. Haven charges add-ons itself, so they still need somewhere to land.
- A payment method on file in Haven, if you use Screen & Protect or guest verification. Those become billed to you in this mode.
Haven blocks the option and tells you which of these is missing, rather than switching on and quietly dropping something.
- Open Host Dashboard → Integrations and find the Guesty card.
- Under Guest payments, press Set up and paste the Booking Engine API client ID and client secret from Guesty. Haven checks them with Guesty before saving them, then reads which of your listings the Booking Engine instance sells. If Guesty charges your listings through Stripe, Haven also asks for the publishable key of each Stripe account it found on your listings (Developers → API keys in that Stripe account; most hosts have one), so the card form on your site creates the payment in the same account Guesty charges. Skip this for GuestyPay.
- Open Host Dashboard → Payouts → Payouts. At the top, under How guests pay you, choose Guesty.
It saves as soon as you pick it. The page then leads with your Guesty payouts, and the Stripe section folds underneath it, marked Optional or Required for whatever still needs it. Payouts in the sidebar shows the Guesty mark.
The Guesty card shows how many of your listings can take payment through Guesty. If you add or remove listings from the Booking Engine instance in Guesty, or change a listing's payment processor, press Refresh on the card.
Only listings that are mapped to your live Guesty connection and included in your Booking Engine API instance. Everything else keeps taking payment through Haven and Stripe, including:
- Listings you left out of the Booking Engine instance in Guesty.
- Units of a multi-unit (MTL) listing. Guesty's Booking Engine quotes the parent, not a specific unit, so those units stay on Haven.
- Multi-room bookings of several listings at once.
- They pick dates on your Haven listing. The price shown is Guesty's: Haven asks Guesty to quote those exact dates and guests, and shows the result line for line, taxes and fees included.
- If Guesty won't quote those dates (a minimum-stay rule, a closed arrival day), the guest sees that reason and can't reserve. Haven never shows a price it made up.
- They enter their details on Haven, choose any add-ons, and save a card for the add-ons if they bought one.
- The payment step shows Guesty's secure card form, hosted by Guesty's payment processor (or a Stripe card form in your Stripe account). The card details go straight to the processor; Haven never sees them.
- Pressing Pay charges the card on your processor and creates the reservation in Guesty in one step. If the bank asks for a verification step (3-D Secure), it appears right there. The booking is confirmed the moment the charge succeeds, and the guest lands on their Haven guidebook with the usual confirmation email.
If the charge is declined, nothing is created in Guesty and the guest can try another card.
| Charge | Who collects it | Who refunds it |
|---|
| The stay, taxes, and fees | Guesty | Guesty |
| Add-ons the guest bought on Haven | Haven | Haven |
| Screen & Protect | Haven, billed to you | Haven |
| Guest verification | Haven, billed to you | Haven |
A guest who buys an add-on sees two charges on their statement: one from your Guesty payment processor for the stay, one from you through Haven for the add-on. Everything else is a single charge.
- The card stays on file in Guesty. The reservation arrives in Guesty paid, with the payment method saved for reuse, so you can charge upsells, incidentals or a damage deposit from Guesty as you would for any other reservation.
- Booking requests are approved in Haven, paid through Guesty. A request on one of these listings does not create a reservation in Guesty until the guest pays. Approving it sends the guest a payment link to the same Haven page, where they pay with Guesty's card form; the reservation then appears in Guesty confirmed. Haven's Adjust price is not offered on these listings; change the price in Guesty first.
- Refunds and price changes for the stay happen in Guesty. Haven can't issue them because it never held that money. The reservation page links you straight to the reservation in Guesty. Cancelling the stay from Haven still cancels the Guesty reservation; the refund itself is yours to make in Guesty. Haven still refunds what it charged (add-ons, Screen & Protect, verification).
- Haven's stay discounts don't apply. Discount codes, loyalty points, and Haven Credit all reduce a price Haven sets, and Guesty sets this one. A discount code your guest enters is passed to Guesty as a coupon, which applies it if it recognises it (Revenue Management coupons, letters and numbers only).
- Screen & Protect and guest verification are billed to you, never to the guest. Your guest-pays settings are ignored on these listings.
- Payouts come from your Guesty payment processor, on its schedule. Haven's scheduled payouts only cover money Haven collected.
- Guesty automations apply to these reservations. Additional fees, taxes and auto-payments configured for the Booking Engine API source in Guesty are part of the price Guesty quotes. Haven adds nothing on top.
Choose Haven (Stripe) under How guests pay you, or press Remove under Guest payments on the Guesty card. Your listings then need a verified Stripe account to take bookings. Bookings already paid through Guesty keep their history and keep pointing at Guesty for refunds; new bookings go back to Haven's checkout immediately.
The Guesty option is greyed out on Payouts. The Booking Engine API credentials are not set up yet, or none of your listings are included in the instance. Set them up on the Guesty card under Integrations, then press Refresh.
Guesty rejected the credentials. Copy the client ID and secret again from Growth → Distribution → Booking Engine API. Guesty also limits how often a new access token can be issued for an instance (a few times a day); if you have just set it up elsewhere, wait and try again.
A guest says the price won't load. Haven asks Guesty for a quote for those dates. If Guesty is unreachable or refuses the dates, the guest sees an explicit message instead of a price. Check the connection under Integrations; a disconnected Guesty account sends new bookings back through Haven automatically.
The payment says the listing has no payment processor. Assign a payment processor to that listing in Guesty (Financials → Payment processing). Until then the listing cannot be charged through Guesty.
The payment says the host still has to finish their Guesty payment setup. Guesty charges that listing through Stripe, but no Stripe publishable key is on file. Press Update under Guest payments and add it.
A guest paid and the dates were gone. Rare, but possible if two people paid at once. The money is with your Guesty processor, so you'll need to refund that guest in Guesty. Haven flags it rather than pretending it can reverse a charge it never took.
