"How do I shift the photo so the title isn't covering the walkway?" "Why is my hero cropped wrong on my phone?" "Which photo shows at the top?" — these are all about the photo layer of the hero, and they're all solved on the Hero tab.
Where: Property editor → left rail → Home → right panel → Hero tab.
Where (property site): Property editor → left rail → Home → right panel → Hero tab → Hero photos card ("Collage photos" on Collage; "Hero photos" on Carousel/Full bleed) → Add photos / click a tile to swap
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Swipe | Slides horizontally between hero slides (Carousel only). |
| Cross-fade | Dissolves between hero slides (Carousel only; the default, reads more premium with video). |
The Hero photos card only decides the top of the page. Your full gallery — reorder, delete, tag by room, per-photo details — lives under Space → Photos. If you don't hand-pick any hero photos, the hero uses your gallery order, which means the first gallery photo (the Cover slot) is your hero and photos 2–8 feed the story cards and parallax strips:
Where (property site): Property editor → Space tab (left sidebar) → Photos → drag to reorder; each tile shows its slot badge
Rule of thumb: to change the top of the page, hand-pick on the Hero tab; to change photos further down the page, reorder under Space → Photos.
Every hero photo is cropped to fit the screen — wide on desktop, tall on a phone. The focal point tells Haven which part of the photo must stay in view when it crops, and it's also how you shift the photo under the headline and booking bar.
Where (property site): Property editor → left rail → Home → right panel → Hero tab → Hero photos → hover a slide → "Adjust focal point" (crosshair icon) → drag to reframe, use the zoom slider Where (collection site): Collection editor → left rail → Home → right panel → Hero tab → Hero carousel → hover a slide → "Adjust focal point" → drag to reframe Range: Drag anywhere in the frame; zoom 1×–3×.
Both change where the words sit relative to the photo, from opposite sides:
| I want… | Do this |
|---|---|
| The words to stay where they are, but the photo to slide so a different part is under them | Adjust focal point on that slide (drag; zoom if needed). |
| The photo to stay where it is, but the words to move (lower, left, centered) | Text & style → Content placement — see Hero Text Placement & Medallions. |
| No words on the photo at all | Hero layout → Billboard (or Collage) — see Hero Layouts. |
| The words readable without moving anything | Text & style → Hero overlay — see Hero Overlay, Text & Badges. |
Worked example — "center the wording between the walkway": the title is on the walkway because the walkway runs through the middle of the crop. Open Adjust focal point on the cover slide and drag the photo so the walkway sits under the title's gap (or off to one side); zoom in a notch if it won't travel. If you'd rather keep the walkway centered and move the title instead, choose Content placement → Stacked (title low) or Editorial left. Either way, check the phone preview.
The same focal point (and zoom) is used everywhere that photo is cropped: full-bleed hero, collage tiles, carousel slides, mosaic panels, and — on collection sites — the collection hero and tab heroes. Set it once per photo.
