When someone writes in about dates — an email, a phone call, a Messages thread — you can hold those nights and send them a link to pay through Haven checkout. Hosts sometimes call this sending an invoice. It is not a Stripe Invoice. It is an approved, unpaid reservation: the same object as a request-to-book you already approved.
Use Already paid outside Haven on the same dialog when the guest has already paid you directly. That path is a manual booking: confirmed immediately, no checkout, no Stripe refund later.
Use Pre-approve on a dated listing inquiry when the guest should still pick the dates themselves. A payment link holds the nights you chose and asks them to pay.
Every thread has a Send payment link control immediately left of the dates chip in the upper right.
A collection-scoped inquiry has no listing yet. The dialog asks you to pick one from the collection before dates.
On the reservation, keep Pre-approve if the guest should book themselves. Send payment link converts this inquiry: the nights are held, a pricing snapshot is frozen, and the guest gets the pay email. Dates stay editable in the dialog.
/book/{code} on Haven's primary domain (checkout needs their Clerk session)Collecting payment through Haven needs a paid plan and connected Stripe payouts — the same gate as approving a request. You can still record an already-paid stay without that.
The payment page requires a Haven account. A guest who already has one can sign in; everyone else creates one on /book. Email-only contacts are not provisioned a Clerk user when you send the link.
