Haven can connect to the smart thermostats you already own and switch the home to a comfortable occupied climate before check-in, then back to an energy-saving away setting at checkout. Guests can also adjust the temperature from the guide during their stay.
Thermostats use the same Seam connection as smart locks. Google Nest owners can also link their Google account to Haven directly — see Google Nest: connect directly.
Haven connects through Seam (the same stable catalog as smart locks). After you sign in, Haven syncs every device on that account that Seam reports as a thermostat. Haven does not keep a separate brand allowlist — if the device appears after Connect or Sync, Haven can write occupied and eco presets and schedule them around the stay.
Seam's API thermostat device types (common examples):
| Brand | Seam device type |
|---|---|
| Google Nest | nest_thermostat |
| ecobee | ecobee_thermostat |
| Honeywell Resideo | honeywell_resideo_thermostat |
| Sensi | sensi_thermostat |
| tado | tado_thermostat |
| SmartThings | smartthings_thermostat |
You do not need a separate Haven setup per brand. Heat, cool, or heat-cool
depends on what that device reports (can_hvac_heat, can_hvac_cool,
can_hvac_heat_cool). Setpoints are in Fahrenheit, 50–90 °F.
Locks on the same Seam account are set up separately — see Smart Locks. A PMS connection does not hide this section (unlike smart locks).
Thermostats are set up per property, on the property's Edit Listing page. They need a paid Haven plan and a card on file. Your first month is free; after that each connected device costs $8/month at cost — the same as a smart lock. See Door Codes & Smart Locks for how the per-device charge works.
New assignments start at 70°F / 74°F for comfort and 60°F / 82°F for away, with comfort starting 1 hour before check-in and away starting at checkout.
If the Smart thermostat section shows a Connect Google Nest directly button, you can link your Nest thermostats without Seam. Haven talks to Google's own Device Access API, so the connection is between your Google account and Haven only.
Everything else works the same as a Seam thermostat: the same $8/month per device, the same comfort/away schedule relative to check-in and checkout, the same Set comfort / Set away tests, and the same Guest control in the web guide.
A few Nest-specific notes:
If you see No access to partner on Google's screen, Haven's Google integration is not yet approved for your account. Use the Seam connection meanwhile, or contact Haven support.
Once assigned, Climate schedule is relative to this listing's check-in and checkout times. The clocks update if those times change.
The guide shows guests a Thermostat tile on its Home tab from the time their arrival details unlock through the end of the stay. To keep the tile off the guide, turn off its switch under Edit Listing → Arrival → Guide layout & tabs (listed as Thermostat). The schedule still runs.
These save automatically. Heat or cool rows only appear when the device reports that mode.
