We have a lot of Fall festivals in East Tennessee. A lot. It would be weird if we didn’t celebrate the Autumn season to the nth degree with all the season brings us as far as joy and aesthetics so powerful they could be seen from space. Just off the top of the head, the definitive fall festivals Sevier County can expect to receive seasonal joy from include Dollywood’s Harvest Festival, Bear-Varian Fall Festival at Anakeesta, Robert A. Tino Fall Celebration at Robert Tino’s Gallery in Sevierville and, heck, even the Smoky Mountain Knife Works has a fall festival in Kodak, too.

But, pound for pound, we’d declare the definitive home-grown fall and local community festival experience is the annual Wears Valley Fall Festival in, you guessed it, Wears Valley towards Townsend, TN. Wears Valley itself is the definitive Smoky Mountain environment, even more so than Gatlinburg up in the highlands, as it is a big, clear flat land surrounded by enormous protective walls of Appalachian mountain.
