Attractions
Area attractions in the Great Smoky Mountains near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Pigeon Forge and the Parkway
East Tennessee’s natural landscape and abundance of activities draw up to 10 million visitors a year, and Pigeon Forge is where most families start. The Parkway has so much to see and do that children never run out of options: indoor skydiving, shopping, go-kart tracks and dinner theaters such as Dolly Parton’s Stampede and the Lumberjack Feud.
Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s 160-acre theme park, is here too, with roller coasters, family rides, live Appalachian music, traditional crafts and seasonal festivals.

Sevierville
Surrounding Pigeon Forge is the town of Sevierville, home to the nation’s longest zip line at Legacy Mountain Resort and one of its longest zip line courses at Yahoo Ziplines. Sevierville also claims the second-longest pedestrian swinging bridge in the country, since Gatlinburg built the longest.

Gatlinburg
At the end of the Parkway you roll into Gatlinburg, a town of shops, museums, restaurants and bars pressed against the mountains. There are moonshine distilleries and banjo players right in the street. It is on our list every time we are in town.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The park begins at the edge of Gatlinburg. We love Mingus Mill, the Oconaluftee Visitor Center and Clingmans Dome, officially known as Kuwohi, the highest point in the park and in Tennessee at 6,643 feet, with 360-degree views from its observation tower and access to the Appalachian Trail.
Trails range from very strenuous to easy for the beginner, and there are swimming holes to find. For those who cannot hike, the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail off traffic light number 10 in Gatlinburg winds past rushing streams, historic cabins and waterfalls, and the Cades Cove loop road circles the valley.

Townsend and Cades Cove
Take traffic light number 3 off the Parkway toward Townsend and you pass through Wears Valley, a scenic drive through small towns with plenty to stop for along the way. We recommend the Tennessee Shine Company, the Foothills Parkway overlooks and the food truck park.

Worth the drive
The attractions our guests ask about most, from theme parks to the top of the Smokies.
