Guests have access to all areas of the outdoor area with the exception of an Owner's Closet on the Ground Level. Guests are not allowed to touch the pool equipment.

NO PARTIES/EVENTS/PETS ALLOWED-Primary Guest must be at least 25 years old and present during the entire stay. Only registered/approved guests are allowed to stay at the residence or be on the property-including the outside/pool area. We do not allow for other visitors or overnight guests without prior approval from hosts. Any guests found to be hosting an event will be subject to immediate eviction without the possibility of reimbursement.
The previous property, The Knotty Whale, had this listing previous to the new house, the Surf Lodge. Please note any reviews prior to April 2025 were for the Knotty Whale.
NO SMOKING/VAPING INSIDE OR NEAR ENTRANCES: Please refrain from smoking/vaping inside the home or near the entrances. Any evidence of smoking will result in a fee for odor removal, duct and furniture cleaning.
Property Maintenance: Our pool and landscaping is maintained by a trusted-third party company. Due to their schedule, we cannot provide specific day confirmations to guests on when they will be onsite. They are no required to announce their arrival. The pool is serviced twice a week during peak season and once a week during non-peak. Guests are responsible for skimming debris from the pool in between cleans. Guests who want to request an additional clean will need pay an additional fee.
Starter Supplies: Bath towels and linens are included in the cleaning fee. To ensure your first night with us is comfortable we provide a starter supply of toilet paper, roll of paper towels and garbage bags. Please note these items are intended to cover your needs for the first night. For the remainder of your stay you will need to bring or purchase any additional items that you require.
The pool heater is available certain times of the year (April, May, September and October) at an additional charge and needs to be requested at least five days prior to check in. The temperature of the heated pool is not guaranteed and can vary especially in cold weather. The charge for a heated pool is $30/night.
It is not uncommon to encounter insects such as palmetto bugs or wildlife in this tropical climate. While we do take preventative measures to keep critters out with pest control services there is the possibility that some get into the house. Please keep doors closed to help control this. There is wildlife in the area so please do not leave food or drinks outside.
There are three external cameras. A camera on the lower front porch that covers the driveway, one on the back left side of the house that covers the side yard, and a camera on the back steps that covers the landing and bottom steps. They may all be recording at times and save still images. Moving, covering them up, or interfering with them in anyway is strictly prohibited and a violation of our House Rules. There is also an Amazon Echo in the kitchen and upstairs living room. It may be unplugged by guests, but we ask our guests to plug them back in prior to their departure.
There is one charcoal grill available for use outside as a courtesy. Guests are responsible for supplies as well as cleaning the grills.
Please note that your stay can be during hurricane season, which runs from June through November. While we always hope for perfect weather, storms can occasionally disrupt travel plans. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip in case of unforeseen weather events. Refunds will only be given for nights that fall under a mandatory evacuation order.
Free private parking is available on-site for up to five vehicles. There is no parking on the lawn.
There are two Amazon Dots inside the house for our guests to play music, ask questions, etc. If guests are not comfortable with these devices they can unplug them. Please plug them back in prior to your departure.
Please review the House Rules and STR Agreement. All guests agree to abide by the rules or risk ejection.
GUEST UNDERSTANDS AND AGREES:
1. That this accommodation is a privately owned dwelling with the Owner's furnishings and the owner shall not be responsible for providing any additional furnishings or equipment not available presently in the unit.
2. The Owner of this dwelling shall not be liable for damage or injury to tenant or to any other person, or to any property occurring on the premises or any part thereof, and tenant agrees to hold Owner harmless for any claims for damage, no matter how caused.

4. The Owner will not be responsible for personal items Guest may bring and/or leave in the unit. However, Owner will make a diligent effort to locate left items of importance and return to Guest. Guest agrees to pay for cost to cover expense of packaging and mailing.
5. Occupancy will be limited to the number of Guests unit will accommodate and approved of by Owner. Parking will be limited to the number of spaces advertised for unit. Vehicles in excess of this number will be subject to towing at Guest's expense. The Guest may not wash, repair, or paint in the driveway or any other common area on the premises. There are no guests allowed that are not registered on the reservation allowed on the premises, including the pool and outdoor area.
6. There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit (beach towels are not), daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. Garbage must be taken out to the proper bins outside the house. Guests understand the linens are not to be used for cleaning and will be fully responsible for any damage, missing or stained items.
7. To indemnify Owner for any damage to the rental unit grounds, furnishings, equipment, and household items, therein, which occur during the Guest's period of occupancy, excluding normal wear and tear. Guests agree to accept financial responsibility for any damage to any of the above. Guests understand that any damages which are discovered to exist, or, which occur during Guest's occupancy, should be reported to Owner at the earliest possible. Either by email, text, or by phone.
8. That if Renter or any member of his/her party violates any of the conditions or agreements of this contract, Owner may terminate this contract and enter the premises. Specifically, the Owner may eject a person or persons from the premises for reasons including but not limited to 1) nonpayment, 2) disorderly conduct so as to create a public nuisance, 3) the person is using the premise for unlawful purpose including but not limited to possession of a controlled substance or consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21, or 4) any other reason allowed by law (HOUSE PARTIES ARE PROHIBITED). Owner has final authority in deciding if occupants are a group or a house party or if the grounds for ejection have been met. Should Owner decide, occupancy will either not be permitted or terminated, and all rent will be forfeited. No exceptions. Owner strictly rents to families, couples, and responsible adults. Minimum check-in age is 25. The renter of record who is 25 or older must always be present to provide responsible adult supervision.
9. That even the best equipment, appliances, internet service, and TVs occasionally malfunction. The Owner cannot guarantee them to perform 100% of the time. However, we do guarantee to correct the problem as soon as possible. Guests agree to allow Owner or their representatives to enter the property at reasonable hours to make timely repairs or inspections. No refunds will be made for mechanical failure or property cleanliness.
10. Guests have been provided with, and acknowledge receipt of, a copy of the House Rules. Guests agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Owner, and anyone else the Guest permits on the property to abide by the following rules at all time while at the property.

1. For the safety and protection of our property and guests there are three surveillance cameras located on the outside of the property including one facing the driveway, one facing the back stairwell, and one facing the side of the house. These cameras may be recording during your visit. There is also a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and smoke detectors throughout the unit. Tampering with these devices is prohibited. We also may require a copy of the primary guest’s government issued ID upon arrival at the latest. This is to ensure the ID matches the name on their account.
2. We recommend adult supervision in the pool area. Rules are posted at the pool. No diving, running or jumping in the pool is allowed.
3. Perishable items may be found left behind by previous guests. Guests are welcome to use, discard or leave them for the next guest. Owner does not provide any food items.
4. Guests should keep shower drains free of hair. DO NOT put any type of oil or grease down any drain.
5. Guests should not hang clothing or towels over balconies. Climbing on or over the balconies is not allowed. Guest should observe children closely while on the balcony and pool area for safety reasons.
6. Quiet Hours: Please respect other guests by following quiet hours from 10pm-7am
7. Smoking is not allowed in the building or in the pool area. Cigarette butts must be disposed of properly.
8. Primary Guest must sign contract and provide photo Identification.
9. No parking in the neighbor’s driveway or on the grass/lawn/side of house
10. There are four areas that guests do not have access to: the owner’s closet on the ground level, owner’s closet on upper level, and two HVAC closets on Upper Level. Breaking into these closets is not allowed and grounds for eviction.
11. No unregistered guests or visitors allowed. Also, use of the pool is for registered guests ONLY.
12. No eating or drinking in bedrooms.
13. Lint traps need to be cleaned after each use
14. Make sure to turn off the lights and any electronics when you leave the house. Don’t forget to close the windows and lock the doors.
15. Photo shoots or any events are not allowed.
16. Report any damages and/or breakages in a reasonably timely manner.
17. Use of the charcoal grills must be done in a responsible manner. We are not responsible for cleaning grills after guests.
18. If there is a problem or concern, please text the owner at the appropriate time for a fast response. In the event of an emergency call 911 and then the owner.
19. Flushing anything besides toilet paper down the toilets is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, wipes of any kind and feminine hygiene products.
20. Guests are unable to have mail/packages shipped to the house. We don’t have a mailbox and the USPS and other carriers won’t deliver here.
21. We recommend supervision while using the Video Arcade Game. Any and ALL damage to the unit will be at the primary guest’s expense.
22. Please note that your stay can be during Hurricane season, which normally runs June through November. While we always hope for perfect weather, storms can occasionally disrupt travel plans. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip in case of unforeseen weather events. Refunds will only be given for nights that fall under a mandatory evacuation order.
23. Guests are not allowed to touch/change/tamper with any pool equipment. The pool heater is only available April, May, September and October. Due to the outside weather we cannot guarantee the pool to keep a certain temperature.
