Columbus Heights · Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The hill above the bay

Columbus Heights is a gated community poised in the cool hills above Ocho Rios Bay, with the whole harbour laid out below: the cruise pier, the hotels along the shore and the Caribbean to the horizon. Security is on the gate around the clock, the community pool sits among the palms, and the supermarkets, restaurants, night clubs and the beach are a short walk down the hill. Columbus Heights Stays is the direct-booking site for the units here, hosted and managed by Posh Paths.

Evenings up here

Watch the ships leave and the lights come on

Every unit faces the bay. The breeze finds the terraces around five, and the town lights up along the water an hour later.

The complex

Phase 3 · sleeps 4

Likkle Lookout

The first unit on the site and Jannine’s own: a three-level townhome with a lattice gazebo over the bay, a rooftop deck, two air-conditioned bedrooms (a king, and two singles, one with a desk), two and a half baths, a full kitchen and self check-in. Token laundry on site; airport transfers and a private chef on request.

The pool

Down the path, under the palms

The community pool is a short walk from every unit, a full-length pool for proper lengths in the morning and floating about in the afternoon, with the white villas climbing the hill behind it. It opens daily in set hours; towels come from your unit.

Plan your days

Ocho Rios Bay Beach

The town beach at the bottom of the hill: white sand, calm water and a bar, a short walk or a taxi from the gate.

Dunn’s River Falls

The famous climb up the terraced falls to the road, hand in hand with a guide, ten minutes west of the complex.

Mystic Mountain

The chairlift up through the rainforest, the bobsled run and the zipline, with the whole bay below.

The Blue Hole

Turquoise pools and rope swings on the White River in the hills behind Ocho Rios, about twenty minutes away.

Scotchies

Jerk chicken and pork over pimento wood, with festival on the side. Jannine’s own pick for visiting family.

James Bond Beach

The beach below Ian Fleming’s Goldeneye in Oracabessa, about twenty minutes east along the coast.

From your host

Hello from Jannine

Columbus Heights is where I bring my own visiting family and friends, and Posh Paths looks after the units here for their owners the way I look after mine: licensed, cleaned properly, priced fairly and answered quickly.

The hill is steep with luggage, so write before you land and I will connect you with our preferred drivers. Ask for a chef, a day trip to the falls or a table at Scotchies, and it will be arranged.

Where we are

Columbus Heights, St. Ann

The community sits on the winding hill directly above the town, off the road up from the bay. Ian Fleming International Airport is less than half an hour east; Montego Bay’s Sangster International about an hour and three quarters west on the north coast highway; Kingston about two hours over the hills through Fern Gully.
