Take the tour
Peek into the bungalows, wander the garden path, step through the boathouse and out onto the deck where the ladder drops into the sea.
180° of ocean
Evenings here belong to the sky. Carry a drink up the stairs, settle in, and watch the bay turn gold, then pink, then violet.
Shared spaces
Past the bungalows, the boathouse is the heart of the place: an airy kitchen, dining room and lounge built out over the sea, shared by all three bungalows.
Straight into the sea
The water starts where the deck ends. Climb down for a morning swim, float until you have had enough, then dry off in a hammock with the islands on the horizon.
From your host
Welcome to Boathouse Bungalows by the Sea.
We are small on purpose: three bungalows, one boathouse and a garden between them, right on the water and a short walk from town. There is no lobby and no front desk, just a gate, a path and the sea.
We live nearby, and our manager is on hand day to day to help you settle in, point you to the best snorkeling of the week, or book you a boat out to Zapatilla. The rest, from the hammocks to the ladder off the deck to the sunsets from the upper deck, is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Come as you are. We can't wait to welcome you aboard.

If you book Yellow Bungalow at Boathouse Bungalows by the Sea, your private space is a simple bungalow room with a queen bed, a fan and a private entrance; you share the over‑the‑water Boathouse kitchen/lounge, two bathrooms with hot showers, the decks, the garden and the swim ladder with guests of the other two bungalows. It’s best for one or two travelers who want an in‑town base, are fine with shared facilities, and like the idea of cooking over the water and walking seven minutes to downtown Bocas Town.
Key takeaways
Couples or solo travelers who pack light, want to be on the Bocas Town waterfront with Wi‑Fi, and don’t mind sharing bathrooms and a kitchen will be happy here. If you’re comparing in‑town bungalows and want a straightforward private‑vs‑shared breakdown before booking, this is it.
I’m Michelle, your host. I keep things clear up front so you know exactly what’s yours and what’s shared before you arrive.
Per our house details, here’s the split:
Yellow Bungalow sits on Isla Colón, the main island in the archipelago and home to compact, walkable Bocas Town; per Tourism Panama, the island has paved roads and it’s easy to get around on foot, by bike or taxi. Bocas Town itself is the capital of Bocas del Toro Province at the southern tip of Colón Island, with most places clustered near the waterfront, per Wikipedia. From Panama City’s Albrook (Marcos A. Gelabert) Airport, the flight to Captain Jose Ezequiel Hall International Airport in Bocas Town takes about 45 minutes (Tourism Panama).

Plan your day in the over‑the‑water Boathouse while the kettle boils on the gas stove, then take coffee out to the covered deck or head up to the upper deck for sunset. When the bay is calm, guests use the ladder to get in and out of the sea; afterward, rinse off in one of the two shared hot showers. The Boathouse has instant hot water and internet for practical comfort (per our house details), and evenings are usually quiet—simple meals and the sound of the bay.
As of 2026, these are the rules we confirm at booking (per our house rules):
It’s a seven‑minute walk to downtown Bocas Town for groceries, cafés and boat tours (per our location details). Bocas Town is compact, so most day trips, water taxis and casual eats are an easy stroll along the waterfront.

Check‑in is from 3:00 PM and check‑out is by 11:00 AM. Please confirm your arrival time at least 48 hours before your date; there’s no early or late check‑in, and the manager is available during the day only.
