By Pines & Beaches Vacation Rentals · November 4, 2026If there are four, five or six of you heading to Garabito, the Puntarenas canton that holds Playa Jacó and Playa Herradura, start with three homes: Condo Brisa for three bedrooms and six people in the quieter north end of Jacó, Condo Jadura for a two-bedroom that still sleeps five, and Casa Rivera if you'd rather have a four-bedroom house with its own front door in the southern end of town. Those cover most small-group trips. The rest of this is about which one your particular group should book, and why the answer usually comes down to bathrooms rather than bedrooms.
Six friends in a two-bedroom condo with one bathroom is a very different holiday from six friends in a three-bedroom with two. Condo Jadura is a two-bedroom, one-bath unit on the sixth floor that sleeps five, and it works beautifully for a couple with kids or three adults who know each other well. Put five surfers in it who all want to rinse off at the same time and you'll feel the pinch at six in the evening.
Condo Brisa solves that: three bedrooms, two bathrooms, six guests, one queen and two doubles. It's the same building, Viva Jacó, in the north of town. Casa Rivera goes further again, a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house for eight, which is the configuration two or three couples usually want because nobody is negotiating over a sink.
And the six-bedroom outlier, Zenergy Casa & Cabinas, sleeps thirteen across five bathrooms, which sounds like the wrong answer for a small group until you understand how it's built.
Zenergy Casa & Cabinas is a main house with three bedrooms plus three separate guest cabinas in the garden, around a large pool. For a group of eight to thirteen it's the clearest choice we have: one pool, one BBQ area, an onsite team, and enough separation that the early risers don't wake the late ones.
For a smaller group it's more interesting than that, because the rooms are also listed on their own. Zen Den and Rose Room puts two couples in the main house with a bathroom shared only between those two rooms, each bedroom locking, each with room-darkening shades. Cabina Plumeria and Cabina Bamboo gives a group of up to five two garden cabinas side by side rather than rooms off a corridor, which is a better arrangement if your group includes people who want to read until midnight and people who don't.
Book one of those and the kitchen, the pool and the gazebo are shared with whoever else is on the property. For some groups that's the point. For others it isn't, and if you want the place to yourselves, take the whole thing.
Brisa and Jadura are both at Viva Jacó, and the building is doing a lot of the work. Three pools (child, adult and lap), two BBQ areas, a private rancho, a gym, coworking space, a kids' playground, a dog park, billiards and foosball, 24/7 security and secured parking. If your group's idea of a good afternoon involves a pool table and somebody grilling, you don't need the home to supply it.
The difference is position and temperament. Jadura looks down over the pool deck, so you're in the middle of whatever's happening and a short stroll from Jacó's cafés, casinos and nightlife. Brisa sits in the quieter northern section with mountain views and macaws turning up in the trees, about a five-minute walk to the sand, with Playa Hermosa and Playa Herradura both close by. Both have an elevator, which you'll appreciate on the sixth floor with a cooler of groceries.
One practical note: Jadura welcomes dogs, Brisa doesn't.
Every one of these homes has a kitchen with the basics done properly: spices, coffee, dishes, a dining table. Brisa and Jadura add dishwashers, which is the amenity a group of six actually fights over. Casa Rivera has an ice maker, and in this climate that is not a trivial detail.
What groups usually do is cook twice and eat out the rest. Jacó makes that easy. El Point is on the beachfront with live music at weekends, El Novillo Alegre does Argentine steak on Calle Hicaco, and Ohana Sushi Tapas Bar, fifty metres back from the sand, runs its bar and kitchen out of a rebuilt shipping container. Restaurante Rusticos is the traditional soda where surfers and locals load up on rice, beans and meat, and Heladeria el Barco makes its own gelato with about twenty flavours rotating. Over at Playa Herradura, the Los Sueños marina has Lanterna for Italian, Bambú for sushi, and Hook Up upstairs at the marina entrance for fish and chips with the whole bay in front of you.
Herradura is about ten minutes up the coast from Jacó town, so a group staying in either place can eat in the other without much thought.
Carara National Park is a short drive north and it's the reason birders come to this stretch of coast: wild scarlet macaws, a universal access trail, and far fewer people on it than Manuel Antonio. Pair it with the crocodile bridge at Tárcoles on the way and you're back at the pool for lunch. Manuel Antonio itself is a day trip south, not a morning. Los Sueños has the La Iguana golf course and the marina that made this coast the centre of Costa Rican sportfishing, and Jacó Walk, the open-air plaza with a playground and fountains, is where families end up when the sun is at its worst.
These are personally hosted and personally managed, so the quickest way to get the right home is to tell us the shape of your group rather than a headcount: two couples, or four friends, or a family with one toddler and one teenager. Reach us by app, text, email or phone.
Two things to settle before you commit. Pet policies vary by home, so say if the dog is coming. And if you're looking at the Zenergy rooms and cabinas, be clear with yourself about whether you want a private house or a shared property with a shared kitchen, because they're sold both ways and that's the one decision people get wrong. Booking direct with us means no middlemen and no platform fees.
