The Cooper Brothers Suite is the inn's showpiece, upstairs under the eaves. Its bathing alcove is famous among returning guests: two antique claw-foot tubs stand side by side on a mosaic-tiled dais, framed by columns and sheer drapery under red velvet valances, with palms and ferns all around. It is a room built for a long, slow soak for two. The bedroom pairs a tall four-poster king bed with a crimson accent wall, gilt-framed tapestries, a brass chandelier, a carved highboy and a sofa for reading. The suite has a working fireplace, individual climate control, spa sheets and fast wireless internet, and a country breakfast waits in the dining room every morning.
