Set way back from the country road, original details can still be seen on the second floor, where amazing 17" hand-hewn floorboards have been restored to immaculate beauty. Large windows fill the space with natural light while framing peaceful woodland views, and a large picture window in the master bedroom overlooks all the beauty. You will quickly see why some people never leave! Immediately outside your accommodations, you have a spring-fed large private pond for you to enjoy for swimming, boating, or fishing. Cold plunge right outside the deck. Fresh spring water literally bubbles outside and is drinkable—in fact, there is no need to purchase bottled water as all the water on the entire property is pristine spring water! Our water has been tested by a local testing lab and in a side-by-side comparison to Poland Spring, our water was deemed superior, so feel confident drinking and washing with it. In the winter and spring, you have multiple waterfalls cascading right outside the back window, and a 2-person tree swing is sitting directly outside by the creek for those special times. You will also find intimate indoor and outdoor lounging areas for you and your guests, including a lovely fire pit right outside with complimentary wood. Surrounded by pristine forest and meadows, you get to sit on the large deck and listen to birds singing while taking in the fresh scents of the woods nearby. You will be truly be one with nature as you see deer prance on by in the mornings and evenings. Beyond the cabin, you’ll discover scenic hiking trails, abundant wildlife, pristine spring water, and countless quiet places to unwind. Every season brings something new to experience, making each visit to the estate unique. Things To Do On Our Property We have so many things to do right here on the property, including: Scenic Forest Trails: We have multiple shaded trails traversing our 47-acre estate. The forest is a great way to stay cool in the heat of summer as the trees offer a rare treat to those willing to explore. For the true adventurer who came with hiking boots, ask about the hike up the mountain to the "Bear Caves"—the place where bears and other critters call home during the winter months. Be sure to look out for the woodpeckers, turkeys, chipmunks, deer, and other wildlife as you take on the amazing scents of the local flora and fauna. Foraging & Gardens: Wild leek can be found in abundance from May to June each year, as well as wildflowers which pop up throughout spring and summer (feel free to make a bouquet to bring back to your table). Wild blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and mint can be found as well. If you are hesitant about consuming them, simply show Elliot and he will confirm that they are safe to eat! We also have multiple gardens around the property with fruit and vegetables available for picking in season with our supervision. Kindly ask your hosts if you would like to partake in this great feature, and don't hesitate to ask for assistance in locating the delicious blueberry trees, raspberry bushes, and blackberry bushes around the property. Maple Tapping: There are thousands of trees on the estate, and many are sweet maple which we use to make maple syrup at the end of February. If you are lucky enough to stay with us during that time, please make sure to ask us to participate in tapping the maple trees and make your own syrup to take home! Pond & Stream Fishing: We have 4 ponds located on the property and a trout stream that runs through as well. The stream has many private lounging areas to hang out at. Feel free to fish the stream if you have a fishing license. If you would like to fish the ponds, you do not need a license! We have free loaner fishing rods. The largest pond has mostly rainbow trout and largemouth bass. The lower pond before the bridge has catfish, bass, chubs, and other fish. The Hidden pond has trout, bass, chubs, and other fish. The forest trail pond has trout and other fish. Other bodies of water on the property contain small fish as well. Note: There is a fee of $10 per trout or largemouth bass that you plan to keep or cook. Fish Feeding: Don't want to fish? How about feeding the fish? Let us provide you with fish food to enjoy seeing the fish go wild (at no charge!). Feel free to also explore the other water creatures such as turtles, ducks, newts, toads, frogs, and more. Golf Range & Putting Green: Looking for a great activity? Why not take a swing on our golf range and test your skills. Located on the left of the upper bridge, you will find drivers and balls. Balls are $1 each or you can use your own. We also have a small putting area to test your skills on the grass.
