This place is wonderfully secluded and peaceful—perfect if you’re looking to truly get away and enjoy quiet nights. The highlight is the historic old mill perched on the hill, with the swimming pool beautifully encapsulated beside it. The surrounding hills are covered in sugarcane fields, and the views from the balcony down to the ocean are stunning. The drive up the narrow, less-traveled road feels like an adventure—you might think you’ve taken a wrong turn as you navigate cliffs on the side with vines hanging overhead—but it’s absolutely worth it. A true hidden gem in Barbados!

If your goal is to stay in a beautiful place with stunning views, perfectly appointed rooms, and accommodations that are both comfortable and impeccably clean, then book your stay at Canvas & Caves. If you are seeking a peaceful, relaxing, and quiet environment where you can read, write, meditate, or simply float in a phenomenal pool with breathtaking views, Canvas & Caves is the perfect choice. One recommendation I would make is to rent a vehicle. While Canvas & Caves is not far from Speightstown (the closest village), the roads leading to this mountain gem are in significant need of repair. As a result, taxis can be difficult to arrange, and public transportation may be inconvenient. Having a vehicle will also give you the freedom to fully explore the surrounding beaches and villages that each posses their own unique personalities and charm. Regardless of the road, I 100% recommend a stay at Canvas & Caves.

Would recommend to anyone visiting Barbados. Lovely stay here, beautiful and peaceful setting, we even saw monkeys from our balcony. Kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool. Loxy gave great local tips and let us use her deck chairs and snorkels. The apartment is close to Speightstown which was one of our favourite places on the island (very relaxed, beautiful beaches, a few restaurants/bars and a supermarket). Tip: would recommend a Suzuki Jimny or equivalent for driving, roads in Barbados have lots of pot holes.

Four Hills is a beautifully unique experience that provides a welcome contrast to the bustling tourist route of Barbados‘ West. The location is just 15mins inland on the side of a hill with views of the ocean, a sugar plantation on the left and jungle on the right - sunset’s are spectacular. The lack of neighbours & the sounds of nature makes for a tranquil & peaceful stay. From your balcony you can observe monkeys, mongooses & macaws in the mornings & evenings. The accommodation is excellent, very well equipped with modern, high quality fixtures & everything you need for a comfortable stay. All the windows have bug-mesh and there’s a cooling breeze that comes in off the sea in the evening. There’s a spacious wooden pool deck set against the old windmill with a shaded area and large barbecue & fridge for your use. It’s fair to say that Four Hills is a work in progress, Loxy can been seen working hard on the property every day to fulfill her vision for the property.
