Walk everywhere
Sanchos, Brother Jon’s, 10 Barrel, Mother’s and the food-truck lot are on Galveston; Cabin 22, the Village Baker, GoodLife Brewing, Backporch Coffee and the Volcanic Theatre Pub are down 14th. Old downtown and the river are fifteen minutes on foot, the Hayden Homes Amphitheater and the Old Mill District about twelve blocks.
The porch
The covered porch wraps two sides of the house, with a hanging swing, rocking chairs and the grill around the side. Guests write about it more than anything indoors.
Four bedrooms upstairs
All four bedrooms are on the second floor: a master with a Casper queen, a second queen, a room with two twins (one a powered, adjustable bed) and a fourth room with a double futon. Two full bathrooms are upstairs and a half bath down. The living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry fill the ground floor, so a group of eight has somewhere to be together and somewhere to be alone.
A wonderful spacious home that was perfect for our stay during our daughter’s wedding. We prepared food, walked to the parks, floated the river and relaxed on the wonderful porch! It was the perfect spot for everything.

Out back
The backyard is fully fenced, with a flagstone patio, a dining table, a propane grill and a chiminea for the cool evenings. Dogs are welcome by pre-approval (one small dog is usually fine), the off-leash dog park is past the pocket park at the end of the block, and Overturf Butte and its trails are beyond that.
Great neighborhood. Fun to see lots of people biking around, neighborhood kids playing outside and being able to walk to the Galveston area. Overturf Park is just a half block away with trails and a play area.

From your hosts
We have hosted this house ourselves since 2016, and we run it the way we would want a place run: the door code arrives by email the week before you come, the kitchen has coffee, olive oil and spices waiting, and if something needs fixing you reach us, not a call center. Before we confirm a stay we ask a few standard questions, who is coming, how many cars, any dogs, because this is a home on a quiet street and we would like to keep it that way for the neighbors.

Getting here
Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is about thirty minutes north; Portland is three hours over the pass. Mt. Bachelor is twenty-five minutes up Century Drive, and in winter the Mt. Bachelor shuttle leaves from the Park-and-Ride on SW Columbia Street, between Galveston and Simpson, a short walk from the house. The attached two-car garage is off the alley, with two more spaces on the street.
