Boat in, boat out
The kayaks and a six-person Lund dinghy are yours to take out. Wingaersheek Beach and the islands at the mouth of the river are an easy paddle or a short run downstream, and our 25-foot Whaler goes further with a captain at the wheel.
The fleet
After dark
Evenings end by the water. The hot tub sits in its granite wall beside the fire pit on the lawn, the river a few steps below; when the air turns, the gas fire indoors takes over with the same panorama through the glass.
We swam off the dock and fished, and finished the days with evening cocktails by the fire overlooking the Annisquam. Looking forward to next year already!
The carriage house
The carriage house on the property holds a full gym, with a treadmill, a Peloton and free weights, and a second dwelling for additional guests, available on request.
We hosted our daughter’s wedding reception here. I can’t imagine a more perfect setting. The place was impeccable, and we even got in a quick workout in the gym. Thanks for the Peloton!

From your host
I live in Gloucester and love boats and outdoor fires, which is more or less a description of The Dock House. Mornings here start on the dock with coffee and the tide; evenings end by the fire, with the river going pink. We keep the kayaks and the Lund ready for you and the Whaler for captained charters, and the pages on this site cover the beaches, trails and charters we send our friends to.
Write to me with any question at all. In winter you will find us in St. John, at Cocoa Tea Villa, and the reply comes just as quickly.

Getting here
Gloucester is about an hour north of Boston by car, or a little over an hour on the commuter rail’s Rockport line. Ubers are easy to find, the CATA bus covers Cape Ann if you arrive without a car, and the area is made for bikes; you can rent them from us directly.
