Three homes, one special place

Broadkill Beach is a place our family loves. Each of these three vacation homes belongs to a different member of our family, and each has its own story to tell. We’re happy to share the quieter side of the Delaware coast with you, one beach getaway at a time.

Broadkill Beach, Delaware

Known for laid-back beach days, peaceful walks, coastal wildlife and room to slow down.

Broadkill Beach sits on the Delaware Bay between Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and the mouth of the Broadkill River, ten minutes from Milton and fifteen from Lewes. The bay is calm and shallow, good for small children, kayaks and sea glass; horseshoe crabs come ashore in late spring and the shorebirds follow them. The beach has a general store and a boat ramp, and the three homes are all within a short walk of the sand.

Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge

Ten thousand acres of marsh and woodland on the doorstep: boardwalks, kayak trails and the birds that give Broadkill its quiet.

Cape Henlopen State Park

Where the bay meets the ocean: the fishing pier, the bike loop, the observation tower and the swimming beach.

Dogfish Head Brewery

The brewery is in Milton, ten minutes inland. Tours, the tasting room and the treehouse.

Cape May–Lewes Ferry

Eighty-five minutes across the bay to Cape May, with or without the car. Dolphins on a good day.

Milton Theatre

Live music and comedy most nights in the restored 1910 theatre on Union Street.

Getting here

Two hours from Philadelphia and Baltimore

Broadkill Beach is off Route 1 at Milton: about two hours from Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, and three from New York. Coming from Cape May, the ferry lands in Lewes, twenty minutes away. Turn east on Route 16 at Milton and keep going until you run out of road.
