From Jonathan
I was born and raised in Gloucester and grew up in this business; my mother Carole built it from the ground up. I came home after college and a career in sports management to carry what she built into its next chapter, and I have worked every role here, from reservations to maintenance.
What has not changed is the promise: a home that is clean, fully equipped and exactly as described, a local team you can reach, and the best price when you book with us directly. Call us at (978) 290-4331 or write to info@atlanticvacationhomes.com with any question at all. We would love to show you our Cape Ann.

Pack Lighter
Through our Pack Lighter program, guests leave unopened food behind and we deliver it to The Open Door food pantry in Gloucester. Our staff volunteer with the Rotary Club of Gloucester, Action, Inc., the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and Discover Gloucester; retired linens go to Cape Ann Animal Aid and the Beverly High School culinary program; and we partner with Triangle, Inc. to employ young people and adults with disabilities.

Getting here
Cape Ann is a little under an hour from Boston and Logan Airport by car, up Route 128 to the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge. The MBTA commuter rail runs from North Station to Manchester, Gloucester and Rockport, and the CATA buses and the Rockport shuttle cover the towns in summer. Head north along the coast for Newburyport and Plum Island; south for Beverly and Salem.

Founded 1623
America’s oldest seaport has kept a working harbour for four hundred years, and it shows: the Fisherman’s Memorial on Stacy Boulevard, the fleet in the inner harbour, Italian, Portuguese and Brazilian kitchens downtown. Whale watches leave daily for Stellwagen Bank; the schooners Thomas E. Lannon, Ardelle and Adventure sail all summer; the HarborWalk’s 42 granite story posts lead you through it all. St. Peter’s Fiesta in June brings the greasy pole and the seine-boat races, and the Schooner Festival closes the season on Labor Day weekend. Photo courtesy of Google.

The tip of Cape Ann
Surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic, Rockport has drawn painters for a century; Motif No. 1, the red fishing shack on Bradley Wharf, is said to be the most painted building in America. Bearskin Neck is the heart of town, fishing shacks turned galleries and fudge shops that end on the rocks over Sandy Bay. The Shalin Liu Performance Center puts the sea behind the stage, Halibut Point’s flooded quarry looks to Maine on a clear day, and Long Beach runs for a mile with the Twin Lights on the horizon. On the tidal river
A quintessential New England town along the tidal Essex River, Essex built Gloucester’s schooners and still launches wooden boats beside the Shipbuilding Museum. It is also the antiques capital of America, with more than thirty shops along the causeway, and the home of the fried clam, invented at Woodman’s in 1916. Kayak the salt marsh out to Crane Beach, or walk the Greenbelt reservations through woodland and marsh. Photo courtesy of Google.

Half an hour from Boston
A summer resort for Bostonians since the nineteenth century, Manchester keeps a lovely downtown of locally owned shops, the Trask House Museum on Union Street, and Masconomo Park on the harbour with summer concerts and movie nights. Beyond the park lies Singing Beach, named for the sound the sand makes underfoot, one of a few dozen beaches in the world that do it. The commuter rail stops in the centre of town.
