Four Hills is a beautifully unique experience that provides a welcome contrast to the bustling tourist route of Barbados‘ West.
The location is just 15mins inland on the side of a hill with views of the ocean, a sugar plantation on the left and jungle on the right - sunset’s are spectacular.
The lack of neighbours & the sounds of nature makes for a tranquil & peaceful stay. From your balcony you can observe monkeys, mongooses & macaws in the mornings & evenings.
The accommodation is excellent, very well equipped with modern, high quality fixtures & everything you need for a comfortable stay. All the windows have bug-mesh and there’s a cooling breeze that comes in off the sea in the evening.
There’s a spacious wooden pool deck set against the old windmill with a shaded area and large barbecue & fridge for your use.
It’s fair to say that Four Hills is a work in progress, Loxy can been seen working hard on the property every day to fulfill her vision for the property.

This place is magical! If it were possible to give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Loxi is creating a true oasis on top of a hill, surrounded by sugar cane fields, trees, and the sea in the distance.
The location is perfect for exploring the north of the island, but also ideal if you simply want to relax in complete silence and cool off in the beautiful saltwater pool beneath the ancient mill overlooking the property.
The apartment is a perfect blend of the island’s history and modern comfort: a brand-new, fully functional kitchen and bathroom, and a terrace with a breathtaking view.
Within just a few minutes by car, you can reach stunning beaches on the west coast, as well as restaurants, markets, and sunset bars. To the south, among the hills, you’ll find lush vegetation and several beautiful botanical gardens. To the northeast, dramatic cliffs, waves, and endless beaches await.
Stay here and let Loxi welcome you to her property — you won’t regret it!

Loxy has a little piece of heaven. If you want to relax, unwind, and experience the natural beauty of Barbados, this place is for you. How sweet, the sounds of sugar cane rustling in the breeze with the Caribbean sea in the distance. We spent our mornings and evenings on the ample covered porch, with a cup of coffee or later on a rum punch in hand. The pool next to the old windmill is the perfect spot for a post-beach cool-off or a nighttime dip. And once you get accustomed to the road from town leading up the hill and through the fields to Loxy's, it's fun to drive it. (Unless you're up for long, hot walks or willing to relying on taxis, a car is essential.) Loxy is a great source of local info and tips and an all-around nice person. Our own tip: Don't miss the fish cutter (get it loaded) and homemade rum punch at The Caboose in Speightstown, and follow it with a swim at nearby Heywood's beach - undoubtedly the least crowded beach on the west coast.

If your goal is to stay in a beautiful place with stunning views, perfectly appointed rooms, and accommodations that are both comfortable and impeccably clean, then book your stay at Canvas & Caves.
If you are seeking a peaceful, relaxing, and quiet environment where you can read, write, meditate, or simply float in a phenomenal pool with breathtaking views, Canvas & Caves is the perfect choice.
One recommendation I would make is to rent a vehicle. While Canvas & Caves is not far from Speightstown (the closest village), the roads leading to this mountain gem are in significant need of repair. As a result, taxis can be difficult to arrange, and public transportation may be inconvenient.
Having a vehicle will also give you the freedom to fully explore the surrounding beaches and villages that each posses their own unique personalities and charm.
Regardless of the road, I 100% recommend a stay at Canvas & Caves.

We’ve just returned home after five wonderful weeks at Canvas and Cave, and it was truly a special stay. The road in is a bit bumpy, but somehow that only adds to the sense of magic when you arrive.
Our suite had everything we needed to be comfortable, but the real highlight was the sense of community. Evenings often meant gathering by the pool with other guests—sharing meals, swapping stories from our daily adventures, and learning about lives lived in far-off places. Those conversations and laughs became some of our favourite memories.
Duckie, the resident pooch, is always nearby and ready for a pat—and she’s especially delighted if you take a moment to throw a ball for her.
At night, gentle breezes move through the property, keeping the air cool and perfect for sleeping. It’s a peaceful, welcoming place that made it very easy to settle in and feel at home.

We are regular travellers to Barbados and Loxy’s place is the most peaceful we have encountered. It is set between a cane field and a gully with a view of the west coast and thus sunsets. Be aware that the drive to Loxy’s place is up a bumpy Bajan road but this also prevents it from being a cut through and therefore peaceful. A car is a must.
Loxy is a superb host; responsive, respectful, omnipresent yet respecting her guests space.
The apartment met all our needs and had a very comfortable bed which in our experience is unusual in Barbados as they are often rock hard!
There is a delightful little dog and several friendly cats living at the property. As animal lovers, this was a delight.
The swimming pool and its surrounds are absolutely stunning!
We will definitely be back and recommend Loxy and her apartments to future travellers.

A wonderful space if you’re looking for peace and quiet. We spent 3 nights here to relax after a busy couple of weeks with friends and family, it was perfect.
The Cottage suited our needs, it’s simple but effective. We had 2 days of thunderstorms and torrential rain but the covered outdoor seating/dining areas meant that we could still sit outside. We literally spent hours looking out into the jungle, watching monkeys, birds and fireflies- truly magical.
We were offered a late check out but unfortunately didn’t see the message until after we had left. Loxy also offered to let us return to use the pool area, as we are on the island for another week - thanks Loxy.
We always look for somewhere off the beaten track to stay for a few nights when we visit Barbados - we would definitely stay here again.

Cave and Canvas exceeds 5 stars!! Our unit was impeccably clean and well appointed, the gardens are bright and colourful. The gorgeous pool is like no other , that we enjoyed both day and evening. We made use of the grill, small poolside drink refrigerator and the fold up beach chairs that were included in our rental. Pride in ownership is evident on all levels. Loxy is an exemplary host, extremely personable, and quickly becomes a friend. She is always anticipating your needs and follows through with any request. The description and pictures in the listing are accurate and then multiply by 10! Hear the stillness and feel the moments!! We will return to Loxy's villa again and would highly recommend it to singles, couples and families. We will miss Loxy...

This place is wonderfully secluded and peaceful—perfect if you’re looking to truly get away and enjoy quiet nights. The highlight is the historic old mill perched on the hill, with the swimming pool beautifully encapsulated beside it. The surrounding hills are covered in sugarcane fields, and the views from the balcony down to the ocean are stunning.
The drive up the narrow, less-traveled road feels like an adventure—you might think you’ve taken a wrong turn as you navigate cliffs on the side with vines hanging overhead—but it’s absolutely worth it. A true hidden gem in Barbados!

A beautiful stay in a serene location that Loxy has lovingly created. Mornings and evenings spent on the huge decks listening to the rustle of sugarcanes in the breeze was magical, as were evenings by the pool. Access is down a bumpy road, but no bumpier than many other roads. Town and great beaches nearby drive. Bed and linens super comfy, and place spotless. Ducky the amazing house dog made us very welcome and added to the hominess of our stay. Loxy obviously takes great care and pride in this space, can't wait to see the paths being worked on.
