Just a few blocks from your front door, you'll find a Safeway supermarket on West Route 66. It’s a full-service grocery store offering a deli, bakery, pharmacy, floral section, and even a Starbucks counter—perfect for grabbing breakfast supplies or last-minute picnic items before heading out on your adventures.(local.safeway.com)
One of Williams’s most iconic experiences is the Grand Canyon Railway—a heritage train that departs daily from the historic Williams Depot and carries guests straight to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. The journey lets you sit back in vintage rail cars, enjoy Wild West–style entertainment, and arrive ready to explore the canyon.(en.wikipedia.org)
The Williams Depot itself is more than just a station—it houses a ticket counter, coffee stand, gift shop, and even a restaurant, all housed in a beautifully restored 1908 building.(en.wikipedia.org)
If you’re visiting in 2026, note that the last steam‑pulled run of the season is scheduled for October 14—a memorable way to celebrate fall in Northern Arizona.(thetrain.com)
Just east of town along Historic Route 66, Bearizona is a drive‑through safari park where you can view North American wildlife—from bears to bison—as you cruise through their naturalistic habitats. Afterward, you can stroll through Fort Bearizona, a walk‑through area with close‑up animal exhibits.(bearizona.com)
The park is open daily and generally recommends that visitors allow a few hours for the full experience, especially if you plan to enjoy both the drive‑thru and walk‑thru sections.(bearizona.com)
Imagine starting your day with a quick grocery run to Safeway for snacks and coffee, then walking over to the Williams Depot to catch a morning train to the Grand Canyon. If you're not heading to the canyon, consider a leisurely drive through Bearizona instead—both are just minutes from the house. In the evening, return to your vibrant rental, fire up the outdoor fireplace or air‑hockey table, and share stories from the day.
Williams has that nostalgic, time‑capsule charm—but it’s also incredibly walkable, especially from your downtown base. Whether you're fueling up for adventure or winding down after it, everything you need is close by.
