Best Restaurants Near Playacar

Dining Guide
Playacar gives you the best of both worlds: a quiet gated beachfront base and quick access to the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen. From Casa Karma, you can keep dinner easy with a short walk or taxi, or make a night of it on Fifth Avenue and Calle 38.
This guide is built for Casa Karma guests who want good food without over-planning. Use it for your first arrival meal, a low-key breakfast, a celebratory dinner, or the night you want to let the concierge arrange a private chef at the villa instead.
Lara & Luca is the reliable breakfast and brunch pick near Playacar. It works well for arrival mornings, families, and anyone who wants coffee, eggs, pastries, and something relaxed before heading into the day. It is not trying to be a big night out; that is exactly why it is useful.
La Cueva del Chango is a Playa del Carmen classic for breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner. The setting is lush and open-air, with the kind of jungle-garden atmosphere that feels like a proper vacation without being formal. Go for chilaquiles, fresh juices, seafood, and an easy first taste of local flavor.
Casa Karma Tip
For your arrival night, keep it simple. Ask us to stock the fridge, book a private chef, or point you toward an easy reservation so nobody has to make decisions after the airport.
Amate 38 is a strong dinner choice when you want regional Mexican and Yucatecan flavors in a beautiful setting. Calle 38 is one of Playa del Carmen's prettiest streets, and Amate leans into that with greenery, regional ingredients, and a calm atmosphere that feels far away from the busiest parts of Fifth Avenue.
Porfirio's Playa del Carmen is the polished, lively choice for a group dinner on Quinta Avenida. It is better for a fun vacation night than a quiet date night: expect contemporary Mexican dishes, cocktails, music, and a more dressed-up feel.
Harry's Steakhouse & Raw Bar is the special-occasion pick when your group wants steak, seafood, and a more formal dinner. It sits in the heart of Playa del Carmen, so it pairs well with a walk on Fifth Avenue before or after dinner.
"The best restaurant plan is not packing every night. Save one evening for dinner at the villa with the Caribbean right outside."
— Casa Karma hosting note
For a four-night stay, we usually suggest one easy arrival meal, one Fifth Avenue dinner, one regional restaurant night, and one private-chef dinner at Casa Karma. That gives you variety without turning the trip into a reservation spreadsheet.
If you are staying with a group of eight, book ahead for dinner. Playa del Carmen is casual, but the better restaurants fill up quickly during holidays, weekends, and high season. For everything else, keep the plan flexible and let the day decide.
