Di Pines & Beaches Vacation Rentals · 4 novembre 2026If you want four bedrooms in Garabito, the canton that holds Jacó and Playa Herradura, we have one house that matches the brief exactly: Casa Rivera, in the southern end of Jacó, four bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping eight. That's the straight answer. The more useful answer is that "four bedrooms" is usually shorthand for something else, and once you say out loud what that something else is, the right house in this stretch of coast may not have four doors on the bedroom corridor at all.
Four bedrooms normally means one of two things. Either you're eight people who want a bed each and a door each, or you're a group of ten-plus and four is the number you typed into the filter box because it felt like the minimum that could work. Those are different trips, and in Garabito they lead to different houses.
For the first group, Casa Rivera is the house. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, eight guests, a few minutes from the sand at the quieter southern end of Jacó town. It has a real kitchen (dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, the dishes and the ironing board, the things you only notice when they're missing) and a barbecue area, which in this climate is where dinner actually happens. Groups who cook two nights out of five spend their money on better fish and fewer taxi rides.
For the second group, the house to look at is Zenergy Casa & Cabinas in Playa Herradura: six bedrooms across a main house and separate cabinas, sleeping thirteen. The main house holds three bedrooms, and the cabinas sit in the garden around it. That layout does something a four-bedroom house cannot: it puts a wall and a bit of green between the people who go to bed at nine and the people who come back from Jacó at one in the morning.
These two towns sit a short drive apart, roughly a quarter of an hour on the coast road, with a local bus running the route hourly for about a dollar. On a map that's nothing. In practice it decides your whole trip.
Jacó is the town with the nightlife, the surf schools, the restaurants along the beachfront. El Hicaco has been doing seafood there since the seventies. El Point sits right on the sand, and the tuna steak with mango is the order. Graffiti Café is the one people book for a proper dinner, and Koko Gastro Bar does cocktails with your feet more or less in the sand. If your group wants to walk out of the house and find somewhere to eat without a plan, stay in Jacó. Casa Rivera and the two Viva Jacó condos, Condo Brisa and Condo Jadura, all sit in that orbit.
Herradura is the calmer bay: golden sand, palms, the Los Sueños marina with its own small world of boats and restaurants, and El Pelicano doing seafood on the beach. Nights are quiet. Our Herradura homes, Zenergy and the garden cabinas around it, feel like a compound rather than a rental, and the gardens there do real work on a hot afternoon.
You get to the area on Highway 27 out of San José and then down Route 34, the Costanera Sur. Allow around two hours from the airport, more if you leave the city at the wrong time of day. There is no airport in Jacó; San José is the one you fly into.
Air conditioning and a proper kitchen are the two that change a week here. Everything else is preference.
Groups of nine, ten, twelve often end up happier in two places close together than in one big house. Zenergy does this under one roof and one booking: the main house with its three bedrooms, plus cabinas in the garden. You can also rent pieces of it on their own, which is how multi-generational trips tend to work in practice. Cabina Plumeria on its own, with a queen and a day-bed, suits a couple or a small family who want a door that locks and a patio of their own. Zen Den and Rose Room are bedrooms inside the main house, for the two people who are happy to be in the middle of things.
Jacó's Viva Jacó tower works similarly for a group that wants less house and more building. Condo Brisa on the northern side of town has mountain views and macaws turning up in the trees, and Condo Jadura sits on the sixth floor overlooking the pool deck. Two condos in the same tower, sleeping eleven between them, is a credible alternative to one four-bedroom house, and it comes with a lift, which matters more than people expect when you're carrying boards and luggage.
Half the reason to take a house in Garabito rather than a hotel room further south is that you're sitting between the surf and the wildlife.
Jacó beach is a learner's beach, which is why the surf schools cluster there: Jaco Surf Club, Tico surf lessons, Vista Guapa Surf Camp. Herradura's bay is the swimming one, flat and palm-backed.
North of Jacó, about twenty minutes up Route 34, the Tárcoles bridge is a free roadside stop where wild crocodiles lie on the mudflats below, some of them genuinely enormous. Keep going a few minutes and you reach Carara National Park, the best place in the country to see scarlet macaws, and busy with birders at dawn for exactly that reason. Both are an easy morning from either town, home for lunch.
Going the other way, Manuel Antonio is about an hour and a half south on the Costanera. That's a full day, not a half day, and it's the one trip worth getting up early for.
We manage these homes ourselves, so the answers come from us and not a call centre.
